Note. Although it is a very nice road from the A5 Roadside Cafe towards Denbigh and then to Betws-y-Coed, that leg takes 45 minutes plus the detour to the cafe. Ignoring that section and emrging onto the A5 and heading straight to Betws takes just 10 minutes – and there are plenty of places to stop in Betws. This could save a considerable amount of time. The Journey from Betws to Bala is a delight and takes about 70 minutes.
