I have grouped the rides into 4 main areas – based on the location of the lunch stop rather than the start of the route. Lunch is typically the place that is likely to be furthest from the start – so is a good indicator of the direction that the ride will take.
Basically I have drawn a line N-S down the top of the Pennine Hills, and another along the M62.
NE and East have a lunch stop north of the M62 and on the Eastern side of the Pennines. Typically Yorkshire Dales, Tyne and Wear, East Coast.
NW & W have a lunch stop on the western side of the Pennines, but north of the M62. Typically the Lake district and Lancashire.
South of M62. Lunch is taken Anywhere south of the M62. Typically Linclonshire, Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire.
Wales. Yn siarid drosto’i hun. (Speaks for itself). A typical start would be at Chester services Jn 14 M56 for a trip around Snowdonia. Easily done if you live close to the M62. More of an issue, otherwise – but we often take a stop over the night before.
