The map above shows the original plan The first leg is now using the A684 from Leeeming Bar towards Hawes, through Leyburn and Aysgarth. The issue was that Sedbury is far too cold if you have just ridden 90 minutes to get there (as both Peter and I had done). The road from Richmond alongside the river was icy. It had been well gritted, but ice still remained in patches – and in the bright sun, they were impossible to spot. Also my first coffee stop was closed so I had to extend the end of the first leg and shorten the first part in order to get to Kendal.
